Circle In The Square Theatre School Celebrates With Beth Falcone Song

Celebrate the holidays at Circle In The Square Theatre School in Manhattan. The song, “Happy HannuKwaanzMas” was written by Beth Falcone. That is Beth on the piano. Christine DeFrece  is conducting. Both women are on the faculty at the theatre school which boasts amazing alumni including Lady Gaga and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Circle in the Square Theatre School began training actors in 1961. It all  began when Circle in the Square Theatre was located on Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village. The theatre was producing professional plays on a regular basis and hiring young actors. According to the school’s notes, Producer, Theodore Mann wanted to be part of the training of the potential actors for their productions. At the time there were no full-time training programs offered, only individual classes. Theodore decided he wanted to create a school where the complete aspects of actor training were taught,  so he created Circle in the Square Theatre School.

Theodore ended up partnering with  Paul Libin and later Colin O’Leary to run the school. They started with 15 students. Today, they offer two year programs for actors and musical theatre students as well as a summer intensive program. They boast 200 students annually. Students are international! There is absolutely no program like this.

Today, the school is housed in the basement of  Broadway’s Circle In The Square Theatre which now shares space with the Tony Award winning musical “Once On This Island.”

Auditions for the school are coming up soon….Check out the website: http://www.circlesquare.org/
