It’s finally here! Live Performance returns tomorrow night June 17 at one of my favorite venues…Feinstein’s/54 Below which is lovingly referred to as Broadway’s Living Room! Jennifer Ashley Tepper is the creative program leader and Un-Block The Music got to speak with her recently about not only what’s in store at the venue but also to talk about Volume 4 of her book series, The Untold Stories of Broadway. So, stay tuned for that story later this week.
First up will be George Salazar and Joe Iconis with their show “Two-Player Game”. If you are a theater lover and reader of this blog, you recognize their names. Joe is the music and lyric writer of Be More Chill, and George, in my opinion, was the runaway star who played Michael (“Michael In The Bathroom) The show being performed this week is described as a revamped sequel to their cabaret act. This show plays June 17, 18 and 20 at 7 p.m. as well as June 22,23 and 24 at 7 p.m.

Also, on tap for tomorrow night is Shakina Nayfact: “Whatever Gets Your Through It” at 9:45 p.m. She is expected to share mostly unheard songs and stories that honor the heart’s hard work of keeping faith and reawakening relationships. Shakina is known for her writing and acting on Hulu’s Difficult People. I believe she is also the first transgender person to have a starring role on a major network comedy show, NBC’s Connecting.
“Un-Block The Music” has more to say about 54 Below and upcoming shows, but I just wanted to immediately offer you the link to buy tickets for this NYC venue, 254 West 54th St. It has been so long!!!!!
